Four G21 Award nominations for Window Ware

22 September 2021

Window Ware is celebrating not one, not two, not three but FOUR nominations for this year’s prestigious Glazing Awards 2021.

We have been shortlisted for the G-Awards ‘COVID-19 Business Hero, Best Component Supplier and Best Customer Care Initiative, PLUS our Credit Control Manager, Sharon Fowler, is also a finalist for the Unsung hero award.

The success doesn’t stop there, as Arran Isle Ltd is up for Best Training & Development Initiative with its Horizon Development Programme, for which Window Ware’s MD Sam Nuckey was the programme leader.

This is an incredible result and a definite first for Window Ware, but then 2020 has been an extraordinary year full of ‘firsts’ for us!

2020 was the first year that Window Ware has had to temporarily close the business in its entire 34-year history! And even though there was no such thing as a dry run for re-opening, our leadership team and key operational staff managed to get the business back up and running and supporting customers with precision timing and a level of service that was perfectly in tune with the market’s evolving and rapidly increasing hardware needs. And all of this amidst a backdrop of social distancing, self-isolating, remote working and supply chain challenges on a global scale!

Travel bans meant that, for the first time ever like all UK businesses, customer site visits were off the cards for our Area Sales Managers. Unfazed, our resourceful team stepped out of their face-to-face comfort zone to help man the phones and the email inboxes to ensure there was always someone available to take orders, answer queries and keep critical hardware and support coming for customers working flat-out to meet the home improvement boom.  And despite the difficult times, Window Ware has seen some of its best customer happiness ratings to date with 100% of customers giving a gold or green thumb satisfaction rating for service in April.

Never before have our usually bustling offices been so quiet, or our warehouse shelves been so full. Yet Window Ware has thrived because our amazing teams have risen to the challenge of working in a post-COVID world and wholeheartedly embraced new working practices to keep each other safe and maintain a dependable supply for our customers.

Our warehouse team has picked and packed record numbers of product lines with high accuracy rates on a daily basis, as well as turned round high volumes of inbound/outbound goods at lightning speed. Our purchasing team has also stepped up its procurement. They’ve been placing much larger orders earlier than ever before to mitigate supply shortages and delays, secure essential stock for customers and meet increased hardware demand. As a result, Window Ware’s inventory is the biggest it’s ever been!

Our efforts have paid off, as we've seen record breaking sales month after month and we’re currently on track to not only smash our sales targets for this year but hit a major annual turnover milestone too! All in all, a landmark year, even though the final quarter is yet to unfold, and the G Award winners are still to be announced.

Sam Nuckey comments, “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for a mind-blowing total of four awards! These nominations are a true testament to everyone’s hard work and perseverance throughout the past 18 months here at Window Ware. It's been a real team effort and without the unfailing determination and commitment of the whole crew, including our Unsung Hero award nominee, Sharon, we simply wouldn’t be in the running for important industry awards like these!”
