How to Reverse the Latch of a Winkhaus Multipoint Door Lock

6 July 2015

Window Ware have put together a simple guide to rehand a Winkhaus Multipoint Door lock mechanism for a uPVC door in just 3 steps.

Here’s what you will need:

- A flat headed screw driver

- A Philips head screw driver

Step 1: Re-hand the latch using the Philips head screw driver.

Holding the door lock in your hand press in and hold the latch. At the back of the lock case you will find a circular hole (we have marked this on the picture as (A)). You will see that holding the latch in brings the screw to the surface of the lock - Simply undo the screw and this will allow you to remove the latch and re-hand it. To screw back in simply push the latch back in and put the screw back in and tighten up:

Step 2: Re-hand the split spindle, you will need the flat headed screw driver for this.

Looking side on at the centre lock case locate the slot that is located between the spindle hole and latch (we have marked this on the picture as (B)).

Insert the flat headed screw driver into this slot and push down, we recommend you do this with the lock on the floor.

Step 3: You should feel the screw driver move as the circular pin inside the slot moves over.

The handing of the split spindle should now be complete - test your lock:

Please note: The slot is on both sides of the lock should you wise to re-hand the lock, however it might be hidden underneath the sticker - if this is the case remove the sticker.

To reverse the latch of a Winkhaus Multipoint Door lock follow these steps:

  1. Re-hand the latch.
  2. Re-hand the split spindle using a flat headed screw driver.
  3. You should feel the screw driver move as the circular pin inside the slot moves closer.
